Price Comparison sites should offer real value to the end consumer, lots of information and features the end user can’t find by simply going to the retailer. This should include detailed comparisons, special deals, product specs, user guides, news and advice and additional content to provide value to the visitor. The consumer has to feel that the recommendation is actually the best deal for THEM and not just for the comparison site owner. The consumer must also be able to trust the comparison site they are using to provide unbiased and supported information.
The Electric Heating Company have never advertised or been part of any formal price/product comparison website for electric heating products or electric heating systems. The Electric Heating Company would only advocate a listing on such a site if it were created by an independent and unbiased third party such as Which or Moneysupermarket.
The Electric Heating Company do not advocate purported comparison sites which;
- do not display product prices,
- do not display how claims on efficiency, cost and energy savings have been independently verified and substantiated,
- only display products from related manufacturers; and
- do not display contact details of the site owner.
Examples of such sites would be www.compareheaters.co.uk and www.whatheater.co.uk These sites would appear to only include products offered by a single or related supplier and as such do not offer an unbiased opinion on behalf of the Public.
The Electric Heating Company would urge all consumers to treat purported comparison sites which do not display the above information with caution. EHC believe a responsible approach should be taken when using electric heating and only supply products that are fit for purpose.
