Keep energy costs down

In recent years, and going forward the term ‘Eco-Homes’ is one that we will all hear a lot more of. They are sold as highly efficient, cheap to run and environmentally friendly homes, the future homes we should all be striving for.  However it seems that it isn’t working out as hoped for some ‘eco-home’ owners. A recent article in the Daily Telegraph detailed how a street in Bradford lined with so called ‘Eco-homes’ was not as efficient as the home owners had hoped, with one particular home owner receiving an... Introducing Electric Boiler & Cylinder Heat Packs

With a significant increase in the awareness of electric boilers for wet central heating systems many heating engineers are genuinely considering this type of system as a feasible replacement where natural gas is not available or there are issues with concealed gas flues. Around 10% of the UK household use electricity to heat their homes. Many systems will be antiquated storage heating offering no time or temperature controllability and running costs that do not reflect on the heating or quality of heating trying to be achieved. An electric boiler on... Read More

Our Slim Jim Package

We are pleased to announce that our Slim Jim package has been very successful during the month of January. If you weren’t aware, as of 1st January 2013 new government legislation dictates that all gas boiler systems with a hidden flue must have inspection hatches fitted to allow engineers to inspect the system and ensure it is safe. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the engineer turning off the boiler (with the consent of the owner or landlord) and advising them not to use it until inspection hatches... Read More

These installs were supported by EHC’s Technical Department supplying a full in-house design specification. The positive feedback from the Schools and Nurseries has been outstanding with teachers commenting that the controllability of the temperature within the classroom has... Read More

Electric Radiators in Sheltered Housing

EHC have recently completed a project with a Local Authority which included 6 Sheltered Housing Complexes comprising of a total of 147 properties. The heating system prior to the installation of EHC Radiators was outdated storage heaters where tenants complained of high running costs and no controllability. With significantly increased comfort levels, reduced running costs and tenant satisfaction the EHC heating system ticks all the boxes. All tenants were supported by EHC’s unique Total Care Package with running costs reported to the Social Landlord on a month-to-month basis.

One flue over…

If you are frequently encountering problems when dealing with concealed flues, it could be that EHC have the solution. The introduction of fan-flued gas appliances in the mid 1990s allowed gas central heating boilers to be installed away from external walls. This meant that builders could design newbuild and refurbishment properties with boilers being installed on internal walls to make better use of the available space. The flues to these boilers were, in some cases, routed through voids in the ceiling space (and through stud walls) between properties above. Safety alert On 2 October 2008, the Health and Safety Executive issued a... Read More
