The DSR Gateway app is a cutting-edge tool that provides advanced energy management and demand response solutions to its users. Used alongside EHC Radiators and Boilers this app provides a simple and user-friendly way to monitor energy usage within the heating system and reduce energy costs, making it an ideal solution for homeowners and businesses looking to improve and control their energy consumption. The app works by monitoring energy usage or the individual radiators in real-time and providing insights into energy consumption patterns. This allows the end-user to identify areas... Read More

The Advantages of Air Source Heat Pumps    Efficient Home Heating Air Source Heat Pumps are an innovative solution for heating homes and buildings. These systems work by extracting heat from the air outside and using it to heat the interior of the building. This is achieved through a process known as reverse refrigeration, which involves removing heat from the air and using it to heat water or air in the home or building. The benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps are numerous. Firstly, they are highly energy efficient. Unlike... Read More

What does SAP mean? Created in 1995, SAP is the Standard Assessment Procedure that the UK and Scottish government’s recommended process for measuring the energy rating, and providing an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), for residential homes. There has since been updated versions, in 1998, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2012. A further updated version, SAP10.2, was released in June 2022. What are the SAP10.2 changes There has been much progress in electricity generation since the last SAP update in 2012, notably in using cleaner methods to generate electricity. Wind and solar... It’s the most wonderful expensive time of the year! On average, UK households collectively spend around £66m on energy on Christmas Day alone. From festooning our homes and gardens with flashing festive lights and twirling, twinkling tinsel to carefully slow-cooking culinary creations, all the while cranking up the heating to conjure up that cosy Christmas vibe, it’s safe to say that we do have a more relaxed attitude to controlling our energy costs on the big day. However, this year the nation is faced with exorbitant energy costs and a... Read More

Building on Momentum After the major success of COP26 in Glasgow last year, it is time to turn our attention to the current conference, COP27, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. There have been several published reports highlighting the gravity of the climate crisis and the need for immediate and sustained impactful action. We will continue to hear about... Read More

Over the last few months during the cost of living crisis EHC have witnessed a significant increase in demand for our various Electric Radiator models, due to their plug in and go functionality. Whilst people are concerned about gas central heating bills and the cost of using a centralised system, they have been opting for mobile electric radiators to heat the space they are in and save on costs. The established DSR Electric Combination Radiator range is showing to be the most popular solution  due to their many features, proven... Read More

In the midst of it’s efforts to tackle the global climate emergency and meet the targets committed to within the Climate Change (Emissions Reduction Targets) (Scotland) Act 2019, the Scottish Government is proposing to prohibit the use of direct emissions heating systems (DEH) is any new building applying for a building warrant from 1st April 2024 onwards. Here at EHC, we have already identified the need for wider education and increased awareness of electric heating systems, including air source heat pumps, and have taken steps to address this. We ensure... Read More

Considering a Comet Electric Combi Boiler? Electric heating is continually becoming an increasingly viable option for heating properties in the UK. New Government legislation heralds a change in how SAP determines a properties ERP Rating – to almost the same as gas. This change allows widespread use of electric radiators and electric boilers, which are widely understood as having low installation costs, no flue requirement, low maintenance, rapid heat up times and high efficiency. This modern method of heating is shaping up to be a popular choice for the future of... Read More

Electric heating is outdated, expensive, and there is just no demand for it, right? Wrong! We have taken a look at some of the misconceptions associated with electric heating, keep on reading to find out more. 1 – Isn’t electric heating outdated? Ten years ago, we might have been inclined to have agreed that electric systems were outdated. However, over the last few years, product innovation has come on leaps and bounds, and there is now a new generation of electric boilers and electric radiators available on the market that...
